Disconnect to Reconnect (Part 1)

As human as we are, there is the tendency for us to entangle ourselves with the desires of the flesh so much that, we begin to seek after temporal things whose pleasures last for a short while. Gradually, we relegate God to the backstage instead of Him being in the center of our lives. Soon we are disconnected from our father.

In Luke 15:11-13, we read the story of a certain man who had two sons. The younger one asked for his share of his father’s estates and went to a faraway country to spend it on wild living.

This story is not different from what we still do these days. We enjoy spending our days, time, energy & money on wild living while we can spend it serving God diligently.

In the midst of it all, God still yearns that we ran back to Him. He wants us to draw near to Him. His prayer for us is that we come back boldly unto the throne of Grace that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. – Hebrews 4:16. This was exactly what the prodigal son did.

His father’s arms were more than ready to welcome him back home & his father was more than excited to tell the whole world that regardless of how dirty his son had become, he still loved him & he was ever willing to receive him.

We must learn from this also. If only we can admit that we have sinned against the Father & ask for forgiveness, He will forgive us & cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We must do away with all forms of evil & worldly pleasures & always remember He who first loved us while we were yet sinners; OUR FIRST LOVE- GOD!
