Help in this Advent Season

Life can be very much easier and comfortable when we have someone around to help us and guide us. One good example is when I had to come to a foreign place for a conference. So far, it has been much easier and enjoyable when I had someone to receive me at the airport and show me the way. Now, I am enjoying the sights and the scenery in the foreign land without having the anxiety and the fear of the unknown.

In this season of Advent, there is someone who is ever willing to help us in our Advent journey towards Christmas; John the Baptist. He is our Advent guide, who shows us the way and the preparations that we need to do. His message is clear and simple – repentance and the conversion of heart.

We must remember that it is God who sent John the Baptist to be our Advent guide as we journey in faith towards Jesus. Jesus himself, in Matthew 11:11-15, exalted John the Baptist and affirmed that John was the one sent by God to turn the hearts of the people back to God.

11 Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, and violent people have been raiding it. 13 For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. 14 And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. 15 Whoever has ears, let them hear. Matthew 11:11-15 (New International Version – NIV)

In our prayers therefore, let us also ask John the Baptist to pray for us so that we can journey deeper into the heart of Jesus and in turn lead others to experience Jesus at Christmas.

Peace and Joy

Prayer (Help in this Advent Season)

Lord Jesus, just as John the Baptist was sent to show us the way and the preparations that we need so that we can journey deeper into Your heart and in turn led others to experience Jesus in this festive season. Amen

Happy Yuletide from
