May the Lord Bless You

Dear friend, we have started well already this year by honoring God in coming to begin your New Year in the house of God.

In the book of Numbers 6:22-27, the Lord speaks to Moses to bless the sons of Israel, with these words: “May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord let his face shine on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord uncover his face to you and bring you peace.”

22 The Lord said to Moses, 23 “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: 24 “‘“The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’ 27 “So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.” Numbers 6:22-27 (New International Version – NIV)

Truly, in this New Year, the Lord our God will bless us in many ways that we can’t think of. But like Mary in Luke 2:16-31, we have to treasure all these blessings and ponder them in our hearts and wait for them to be fulfilled. Remember, blessings are like seeds that are sown in our hearts and we have to wait for them to germinate and bear fruit.

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

21 On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived. Luke 2:16-31 (New International Version – NIV)

As we begin this New Year and as we look at so many days ahead, let us look at one second at a time, one moment at a time. And together with Mother Mary, let us offer each second and each moment of every day to the Lord so that He will bless it and make it holy, so that every moment of every day, we will be loving and peaceful.

Peace and Joy
