It is not always easy to build a relationship and equally so, sustain it. Sometimes it takes a great deal of effort to get close to people we admire naturally. In a like manner, Jesus teaches us in Luke 17:1-6, not to easily lose a friend, brother, or neighbor due to an offence and unforgiveness.
17 Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come. 2 It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble. 3 So watch yourselves.
“If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. 4 Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”
5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
6 He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you. Luke 17:1-6 (New International Version – NIV)
Indeed, People are hurting because of various reasons but do not easily give up in reconciling with a neighbor, don’t let the enemy win by planting unforgiveness in you. Perhaps you were betrayed by a friend you trusted so much, or you disappointed someone dear to you and you feel so bad. Maybe you have vowed not to forgive your parent or another person because they neglected you when they should have been there for you. Unforgiveness is a blessing blocker. Say no to unforgiveness
I understand it is not easy, but trust me it’s possible. Get to talk to somebody about your hurts. Remember; never ‘lose’ a friend, neighbor, or relative so easily.
May God grant us a forgiving heart and heal our wounds. May He cast away any form of unforgiveness. Amen
Peace and Joy
